Program Officer - Raqqa (Syria)


Mission

In situations of armed conflict, Geneva Call, as a neutral, impartial and independent international humanitarian organization, endeavors to strengthen the respect of humanitarian norms and principles by armed non-State actors, in order to improve the protection of civilians, while supporting local communities in their efforts to enhance their own protection. Role

Under the supervision of NE program coordinator (Raqqa), the Project Officer contributes to the operations of Geneva Call in NES- Deir Azzor/Raqqa by supporting in implementation of project(s) according to the programme plans, internal procedures, and guidelines as well as donor requirements and security constraints.


Main acitivities

Help in implementation and management of project(s) (Trainer), following the work plan, budget(s), donor requirements, and internal procedures;

II. Communications & External relations
  • Facilitate and arrange meetings with relevant stakeholders and senior management.
  • Act as a liaison person with different stakeholders at the field level including with ANSA’s, CSOs and NES local authorities.
  • Support implementation of communications strategy including activities, campaigns, events and other initiatives.
  • Attend all relevant conferences, seminars and other fora of interest to the organization, whenever required to.


III. Security
  • Support NES GC team in monitoring the security situation on the provincial level and advise on any required mitigation measures.


Technical skills

  • Good computing skills (MS. Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good training and coaching skills
  • Good knowledge in  issues of humanitarian affairs/IHL & Humanitarian norms.
  • Developing professional relationships with various stakeholders including armed actors and working in a neutral and objective manner. 
  • Perform any other duties as required by the program Coordinator/ Head of Program and GC management.

 

   

Main qualifications

  • University degree in Law, legal studies, or any relevant study field.
  • At least 3-year experience in humanitarian field, delivery of trainings.

Any
candidate affiliated to, or openly supporting, one or more interest groups
opposed to the Foundation’s principles and values, or whose previous position
could engender safety issues for co-workers at Appel de Genève / Geneva Call,
will be excluded from this selection process.
